My client is recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join their team as an Production Shift Manager.

Purpose or Aim: To be part of a professional empowered team, coordinating activities as required to meet company standards and focus on continuous improvement whilst contributing to the company's strategy, and demonstrating the company values and behaviors.

To own and manage the manufacturing department and to be a champion for product quality and Health and Safety. To monitor, interrogate and analyses all information relating to performance, budget and yield ensuring cost saving plans are developed from the results.

Driving high standards throughout the manufacturing department to be audit ready at all times. Lead and develop a Production team which consists of Process Operatives and Standard Operatives whilst selecting and developing a potential succession management strategy.

Performance Criteria: Supports the Production Manager in delivering the operational goals and objectives for the department and recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operational performance.

Is an enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated and pro-active team manager, committed to successfully achieving the goals and objectives of themselves, the team and the Company.

Understands and manages the strategic and financial needs and goals of the business. Ensures these goals translate into team and individual objectives. Takes full accountability for the departmental KPIs and delivering performance.

Ensures the management, control and monitoring of unit cost through departmental agreed measures remains a priority amongst the Key Performance Indicators established. Ensures regular monitoring against budget and forecast assumptions.

Maintains a high level of service to internal and external customers, promoting a positive attitude towards others in the team and across the business.

Builds and develops relationships with support functions.

Ensures effective and relevant information is communicated to colleagues to eliminate misunderstandings and ensures good working relationships are maintained.

Remains willing and prepared to support and help fellow team members, as well as prepared to accept and adopt new challenges and changes in plan.

Avoids conflict and builds effective working relationships with others.

Ensures strict adherence to Health & Safety policy and regulation across the business.

Ensures that all other company and departmental regulations and guidelines are rigorously adhered to at all times by all team members.

Actively promotes job rotation and enhancement across the workforce.

Designs, agrees and develops succession planning opportunities at all levels with key staff.

Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

Experience and Qualifications: Competent at all aspects of the efficient and cost-effective operation of a manufacturing facility.

Competent at People Management with a proven ability to develop and motivate direct reports ensuring maximum performance output is achieved by managing through people processes and policies, including key areas such as disciplinary to written warning level, absence management, recruitment, holiday management and performance management.

Understands the principles and processes of effective communication and how to apply them, also understands how to give feedback in a way which enhances confidence and commitment.

Competent and knowledgeable in quality systems and procedures.

Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in areas of FMCG Manufacturing.

Good PC skills and related software applications (MS Office), with the ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Ability to contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a continuous improvement culture within the department.

Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment by building effective communication with the workforce.

Skilled in employee development and performance management, continuously improving the performance of the team members by setting clear and challenging goals and objectives, with set timescales, which are regularly reviewed.

Project management skills.

Skilled in driving performance levels, line efficiencies and line utilization beyond budgeted levels by maximizing the potential of the people, plant and time available.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good level of experience minimum 5 years in International Freight Forwarding operations, of handling all aspects Shipping Documentation
